Pink Fujitsu Lifebook A1120 Laptop

Pink Fujitsu Lifebook A1120 Laptop

Japanese computer manufacturer, Fujitsu, recently released the next generation of it’s popular Lifebook laptop series. Generally known as a low to mid-range bargin laptop, Fujitsu had to do someting drastic to distinguish itself in the crowded value laptop market. So the designers came up with the gimmick of creating replaceable, colorful lids to make the machines highly customizable. Easy to install, users simply snap the lid onto the top of the laptop to give it a new look.

The new A1120 model still has the cool replaceable lids going for it (available in Pink with Butterfly patterns, Royal Blue with Loyal Art patterns and Green with Labyrinth patterns), but it also has a few new tricks up its sleeve that will keep it in the forefront of the bargin laptop market. Adopting a bigger is better philosophy, the A1120 has a 15.6-inch Active Matrix Crystal View WXGA LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels. It also has Realtek high definition audio which is great for watching movies and videos. But this Lifebook is more than good looks and pretty graphics. Fujitsu also improved the laptop’s performance adding an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400. Partnered with the Intel GM45 Express Chipset, the A1120 runs faster that than the previous model and can support up to 4GB of memory.

The A1120 also includes a built-in 1.3 megapixel webcam with and integrated digital microphone, 3 USB ports, a spill resistant keyboard, and a Dual-Layer Multi-Format DVD Writer. The six-cell battery that has approximately 3 hours of battery life. The Lifebook A1120 runs on a Windows Vista Home Premium operating system and comes preloaded with Roxio Easy Media Creator, Norton Internet Security, and Microsoft Works 9.0 with Microsoft Office, Home and Student Trial Edition 2007 (60-day trial edition).

A Lifebook with a basic setup will cost $799, which isn’t bad for a budget notebook. While the latest notebook does have some spiffy new additions, it’s still not able to compete with high-performance model. It’s true strength lies in being a jack-of-all-trades, performing tasks at an acceptable level. If you need to do high level functions like video editing, you might want to look for another notebook, but if you want a reliable machine that you can use to create a report or relax and watch a movie, look no further.

Pink Laptop::Dell Inspiron mini 10

Pink Laptop::Dell Inspiron mini 10

Dell look to complement its popular range of Netbooks with an "in-betweener", the Inspiron Mini 10, that comes with a price tag of £300 and could actually be a better netbook than Dell's other model.

The Inspiron Mini 10 aims to strike the perfect balance between functionality, pricing and size. It comes with a 10.1-inch LCD screen capable of displaying 1024x576 pixels, not as good as we would have expected but still plenty of pixels to play around.

It is powered by an Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, up to 160GB hard disk space and comes with a -cell battery, webcam, WiFi, Bluetooth and a card reader. Dell has also thrown in a HDMI connector, Windows XP SP3 and Intel's own GMA500 graphics solution.

At 1.3Kg, it is not as heavy as the Mini 12 but still manages to get an almost full size keyboard that's only 8 percent smaller than traditional laptop models.

The Mini 10 will be available in various colours (white, red, pink, blue and green) although black is set to be the default colour.

Cnet reports that Dell will introduce a 2GB model with 250GB HDD later this year with an integrated TV Tuner, Ubuntu 8.04 and Mobile broadband capabilities; one can also expect AMD to join the foray and Dual Core Atom CPUs to debut.
